

The High Commission was pleased to receive Ms. Amusu Okiemute Elizabeth, Nigeria’s representative at the Miss Petite Global 2026 Pageant, held in Malaysia from 5–11 May 2026.
Mission, together with members of the Nigerian Community in Malaysia, rallied support for Ms. Elizabeth (Liza) throughout the competition, demonstrating unity and patriotism while promoting Nigeria’s positive image on the international stage.
We are proud to announce that Ms. Elizabeth emerged as the 3rd Runner-Up among contestants from several countries around the world. Her remarkable achievement showcased Nigerian excellence, resilience, confidence, and cultural pride.
The High Commission congratulates Ms. Elizabeth on this outstanding accomplishment and commends her for serving as an excellent ambassador of Nigeria.






Officers of the High Commission participated in the Induction Course for Foreign Diplomats in Malaysia – Malaysia’s Culture and Identity (MCI) held from 28–29 April 2026.
The programme brought together diplomats from various foreign missions and international organizations in Kuala Lumpur for an orientation designed to enhance their understanding of Malaysia’s cultural identity, diplomatic environment, media landscape, and political system.
During the two-day course, participants attended sessions on Malaysia’s cultural diversity, diplomatic protocol and etiquette, media relations, political dynamics, and the role of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Malaysia (Wisma Putra) in advancing the country’s foreign policy objectives. The programme provided practical knowledge and contextual insights to support effective diplomatic engagement in Malaysia.
As part of the course, participants visited Bernama, Malaysia’s National News Agency, where they received a briefing on the country’s media and press landscape.




Diplomacy is not only about representing national interests; it is also about building relationships, nurturing future leaders, and creating legacies that endure beyond individual tenures.
The recent transition symbolizes both continuity and progress. While we celebrate the appointment of Amb. Danlami Ibrahim as High Commissioner-Designate of Nigeria to Nairobi, Kenya, we also recognize his remarkable contributions and stewardship that has strengthened the Mission and inspired those privileged to work with him.
The captured moments tell a story of leadership, service, partnership, friendship, and commitment to the ideals of diplomacy.
As Amb. Danlami Ibrahim assumes greater responsibility and prepares for new opportunities, the Mission remains united by a shared commitment to excellence, professionalism, and service to the nation.

The High Commission had the honour of receiving a high-level delegation from the Nigeria Customs Service, led by the Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, during their official visit to Malaysia from 20th–23rd April 2026.
The delegation participated in the Defence Services Asia (DSA) and National Security Asia (NATSEC) exhibitions—premier platforms that convene global stakeholders in defence, security, and strategic cooperation. As part of their engagements, the team paid a courtesy visit to the High Commission and held productive interactions with the Royal Malaysian Customs Department at its Headquarters in Putrajaya, further strengthening institutional collaboration and mutual understanding.
The Nigeria Customs Service continues to serve as a cornerstone of Nigeria’s economic and national security framework, with responsibilities spanning trade facilitation, revenue generation, border protection, and anti-smuggling operations. Under the dynamic leadership of Comptroller-General Adeniyi, the Service has achieved notable progress in modernization, operational efficiency, and international partnerships.
This visit underscores a shared commitment to service excellence, strengthened bilateral cooperation, and the collective pursuit of national development and global security objectives.













The Mission successfully hosted the March 2026 African Heads of Mission (AHOM) Meeting on 25th March at the JW Marriott Hotel, Kuala Lumpur, in accordance with the rotational hosting arrangement. Through careful planning and effective coordination, the Mission delivered a well-organised session and luncheon that convened Heads of Mission from 18 African countries accredited to Malaysia, thereby demonstrating its capacity to facilitate high-level diplomatic engagement.
The AHOM forum, comprising Heads of Mission from 19 African countries in Malaysia, continues to serve as a vital platform for diplomatic coordination and collective consultation on matters of common interest among African diplomatic missions in the country.


His Excellency, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, CON, Executive Governor of Gombe State, paid an official visit to Kuala Lumpur from 23rd–28th January 2026, during which he received an Honorary Doctorate Degree from Lincoln University College in recognition of his contributions to educational development and the establishment of its Nigeria Campus in Gombe State.
The Mission hosted a luncheon in his honour, where he briefed officers on progress made with the Lincoln University Campus project, describing it as a strategic partnership to expand access to quality tertiary education. He also held an interactive session with Gombe State students in Malaysia, commending their academic commitment and encouraging exemplary conduct.
In addition, Dr. Chris Maiyaki, former Acting Executive Secretary of the National Universities Commission (NUC), received an Honorary Doctorate Degree in Management from Lincoln University College. The visit strengthened Nigeria–Malaysia educational collaboration and reinforced Gombe State’s commitment to sustainable development through education and international partnerships.
The visit featured engagements with university leadership and an interactive session with Gombe State students in Malaysia, further strengthening Nigeria–Malaysia educational collaboration and advancing Gombe State’s commitment to global partnerships in education.

The delegation comprised Prof. Emmanuel Akinola, Commissioner of Health, and Mrs. Folashade Koasarat Ambrose-Medebem, Commissioner for Commerce, Cooperatives, Trade, and Industries. They were accompanied by Venkatesh Kumar V.N, CEO of Quantum Medical Solution Sdn Bhd; Zambri Che Mi, Senior Vice President and Contract Management, Quantum Medical Solution Sdn Bhd; and some officials. The visit was part of a Knowledge Exchange and Strategic Health Engagement Program in Malaysia.






Dr. Julitta Onabanjo, the UNFPA representative to Malaysia and country Director, Kingdom of Thailand and spouse visited the High Commission. They were received by the Amb. Ibrahim Danlami, the CDA ai, Ms. Nwefuru M. Nwefuru, the Head of Chancery and Mr. Gabriel Abah, Second Secretary (Consular and Migration) of the Embassy.
The Nigerian Cricket Federation team paid a courtesy visit to the High Commission on the 28th January, 2025. The historic visit was during their participation in the Under-19 ICC Women’a T20 Worls Cup in Malaysia. The teams performance in the game did not only make a milestone for Nigerian cricket players, but also inspired hope for future successes on the global stage.









Photos from the visit of the representatives of the Malaysian Cocoa Board, led by the chairperson of Malaysian International Cocoa Fair 2025 (MICC 2025), Hajah Suzanah Sharif, held on Thursday, 13th March, 2025 at the High Commission. The meeting was a follow-up to an earlier discussions between officials of both the High Commission and the Cocoa Board in November, 2024 when the Mission participated in a preparatory event for the MICF, held in November, 2025 in Sabah, as well as a follow up on Nigeria’s participation to the event.
Amb. Danlami Ibrahim (CDA a.i.), accompanied by Mr. Muyiwa Ogundipe and Ms. Onyinye Nwefuru, met with the Undersecretary (Africa) to discuss strengthening Nigeria-Malaysia relations, including the 60th anniversary, ECOWAS–ASEAN ties, counterterrorism, education collaboration, and Nigeria’s candidature.



The representative of the High Commission, led by Mrs Rahila Kaura Ayuba the CDA a.i., on 11th of January 2025, had a townhall meeting with Nigerian nationals resident in Brunei Darussalam, during a passport intervention exercise of the Mission to Nigerians in Brunei. The nationals comprise of Expat engineers, Professors, Teachers, Student, Footballers comprising the MD BLNG and his wife, Engr. Adeleye Falade and Dr. Mrs. Omolade Falade, the Asset Director BSP and her husband – Engr. Elohor Aiboni and Barrister Sam Aiboni (visiting), senior engineers working for both BSP and BLNG in attendance amongst whom are the immediate past President of the Nigerian Community and the current President in the persons of Otuka Umahi and Franklyn Ogoleh respectively and their spouses, Engr. Obinna Mbonu – Mgr. Project and commissioning, James Osaze, Babalola Akinloye, Mike Ikebudu among others.
